A Tribute Event to The Gator By The Bay Festival – Taste of Gator – Saturday May 8th, 2021. Tio Leo’s Restaurant Napa Street San Diego.

For those who love their live music in a fun and welcoming festival environment, the annual four-day Gator By the Bay Zydeco, Blues & Crawfish Festival is much anticipated must-do spring event. And, while the Covid pandemic has postponed the usual May celebration, all is not lost!

The favorite Gator By the Bay preview party is a go, “TASTE OF GATOR – KEEPING THE LOVE ALIVE” takes place on Saturday, May 8th.

The event will be held outdoors, 5 to 9:30pm, at Tio Leo’s, located at 5302 Napa Street in San Diego. In addition to an all-star lineup of some of San Diego’s best musical talent, Tio Leo’s will be serving food and drinks to add to the conviviality. Attendance is free, although donations are much appreciated as the money goes to pay the bands and expenses. This annual gig was put on hold last year due to Covid, so the 2021 party promises more fun than a barrel of rubboard players!

The lineup, includes many of the favorite bands who perform yearly at Gator By the Bay, including:

• The Bayou Brothers

• Michele Lundeen AKA Madame LeRoux and her Mardi Gras Krewe

• Theo and the Zydeco Patrol

• Chris Fast Band

• Ass Pocket Whiskey Fellas

• Sue Palmer and her Motel Swing Orchestra

• Gator All Stars Jam Band

• and Emmcee “Sistah Judy”

“TASTE OF GATOR – KEEPING THE LOVE ALIVE” is brought to you by Gator By The Bay and Bayou Brothers Productions.

All are welcome. Please wear masks (except eating and drinking of course) and please be Covid polite as we are still in the fight.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler! Let the good times roll!  And they will again! We are eager to see you soon!

Dear Gator Fans, Friends, and Supporters-

What’s happening with Gator By The Bay 2021?
Unfortunately, it is postponed until 2022.

We have been enthusiastically working since last year on the 20th anniversary edition of your Gator By The Bay Festival which was to take place in May, 2021. Up until this week, we had been optimistic about producing the May festival as planned. Multiple unknowns related to the COVID pandemic unfortunately have made planning exceedingly difficult. Although disappointing, it is clear to us that canceling the 2021 festival is the right decision.

The festival production requires permits and licenses issued by local and county authorities. To date, we have no assurance that those permits will be available. We seriously considered the possibility of postponing the festival into the summer months but realized that even that time frame remains unclear. Rather than making plans on yet another uncertain date in 2021, we concluded that setting our sights and confidently directing our efforts to the May 5-8, 2022, Mother’s Day weekend in San Diego, is a better use of our energy and resources.

All of us find great joy from the fun and connections that the festival generates, and we are optimistic that we will be able to safely share and enjoy live music and the festival experience again sometime soon. Currently, great progress is being made to neutralize the virus threat, and we realistically anticipate 2022 being a lot more normal than either last year was or this year might be.

We are forever grateful to our ticket holders for your patience and understanding during these unpredictable times. Your continued support allows us to be optimistic about the future and able to move boldly forward to produce a spectacular 2022 festival.

We ask those of you who have tickets carried over from 2020 to share our 2022 vision by carrying them over again to 2022. If your situation has changed and this presents a financial difficulty, contact us at process@gatorbythebay.com. You can request a refund through this link. You can If you have made hotel reservations, please remember to cancel them, but look for 2022 hotel information announcements very soon.

Join us on our website and Facebook pages over the next several months. We will be replaying memorable performances of earlier Gator By The Bay festivals, sharing photos and fun times and announcing available live music events as they come online virtually or in person.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler! Let the good times roll! And they will again! We are so eager to see you then!

March 24, 2020

Dear Gator Friends, Fans and Family,

Gator By The Bay 2020 has been cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

The Gator By The Bay Team would like to thank you for your patience and support. We had hoped to reschedule Gator By The Bay and we spent last week trying to figure out a way forward. After efforts to find new dates, we concluded that wasn’t feasible and with heavy hearts we have cancelled Gator by the Bay 2020.

Our focus now is on being sure everyone stays healthy so we can begin planning Gator By The Bay 2021.

Our valued ticket holders have one of three options:

    • Defer your ticket(s) to use at Gator By The Bay 2021. By selecting to keep your ticket until next year, you help us cover the costs we have already incurred for this year and help us on the way to creating Gator by the Bay 2021.
    • Donate the value of your ticket(s) as a tax-deductible contribution to San Diego’s Bon Temps Social Club, a 501c(3) charity.  Your donation will help us cover the costs incurred in the run up to this year’s Festival.
    • Request a refund for your ticket(s). Although tickets were sold as non-refundable, we recognize that we are in unprecedented times and are trying to respond as graciously as possible.  It would be helpful that you hold onto your ticket(s) and use them next year. However, if you need a refund, we will process it.  Thank you for your understanding.

Make your choice known by using the Ticket Option Portal below.
Please be sure to choose your option by May 7th, 2020. If we do not hear from you by May 7th, your ticket will automatically be rolled over to 2021 as if you had actively chosen the first option to Defer Your Ticket to use at Gator By The Bay 2021.

So that we may best plan, we cannot honor requests for refund after May 7th, 2020.

Visit the link below to indicate your option and provide us the information we need to process your request.

If you have made hotel reservations, please remember to cancel them.

We share in your disappointment that we will not be able to celebrate with you this May and we do hope to see you at Gator By The Bay, May 6 – 9, 2021 at Spanish Landing Park on San Diego Bay. Please stay in touch with us through Facebook.
