There is no doubt about it, Cajun music is like nothing you’ve heard before! It has a way of making you want to dance, faster than contemporary music can. The sounds that come from the accordion and fiddle seep into your soul and spark your body to sway.

Cajun music is an expression of many emotions and life lessons but it is rooted in the loss and uncertainty of exile from Acadia, Nova Scotia. Traditionally, one would dance to this music with a waltz, or a two-step, but these days, people are twirling, shuffling, and twisting all over the dance floor!

Similarly, Rockabilly and Swing music encourage people to move quickly and wildly around. Rockabilly and Swing was the “hillbilly’s” reinterpretation of rhythm and blues during a time when people’s tastes in music and dance had to be kept separate.

At Gator by the Bay, we will have live Cajun, Rockabilly, and Swing music playing non-stop. We even have a concert that will kick off our festival under the big tent on the west end. There will be two dance floors, an upgraded table service option, hot and cold beverages for sale, as well as tasty dishes!

The music and fun will continue through to the very end of our festival and the musical guests are still accumulating on our roster! Check the schedule often to stay up to date on all of the musicians.
